July 2009 - Ask Kim Column
Dear Kim:
I'm a fan of yours after reading your book, How To Talk To Your Angels. In 2006, I met this man that had somewhat caught my attention, but he was married. In mid 2008, I began a very flirtatious friendship with him. In 2009, we crossed the line and began a physical relationship. We see each other 3—4 times a week. We have both fallen in love with each other. He's told me on so many times that he feels like I'm where he belongs and that he never intended for things to go this far. I know that some have found their soul mates while they were in relationships with others, but never in my wildest dreams would I have EVER pictured myself to be in this situation. I feel lost and confused in this chapter in my life.

Dear GD.:
It is true that sometimes an individual will meet a romantic soul mate while still in a relationship with someone else. However, in your situation, you are involved with a man who has cheated before and does not have the strength or courage to leave his wife, whom he does not love. You have given him more than enough time to prove himself to you, and all he does is talk about how much he loves you. But he has failed to act!
Sneaking out to meet you several times a week and lying to his wife about it is NOT the same thing as taking action! If he was serious and sincere about his intentions toward you, he would have already moved out of his marital home and he'd be making plans with you for the future. Don't squander any more of your precious time, energy, or affection on a man who is not of your caliber. You would never be happy married to this man, although that's a moot point, thank God.
He has been so stimulating for you because you've been really bored and lonely and there's no one else in the picture; plus, you two have been romantically linked in past lives, so that accounts for the current chemistry you share. You're reacting to energy from the past...not a chemistry that denotes a destined future for the two of you in this lifetime. You must ask yourself why you cling to a relationship with someone who is emotionally unavailable. Are you really ready—or interested—in attracting a heart, mind, body, and soul relationship? Based on your current choices, that's not what you're telling the universe.

Dear Kim:
Do we have a destiny that we choose, or plan out before we start a life; or, do we choose/create our life as we live? When we ask our angels questions, are they answering us based on what we subconsciously desire at that moment, or based on what planned out for this life? When they tell us about our future: are they telling us what is inevitable, or are they just telling us what we want to hear? I really want to understand if we really do create our lives as we go, or are we just trying to live out a pre-destined life?
Ed M., 29,

Dear Ed:
We plan our destiny in heaven before making the journey to the earthly plane. Think of your destiny as a blueprint, or template, of what you hope to achieve in each of your earthly lifetimes. Upon arriving on the earthly plane, free will becomes part of the equation. When we ask our angels a question, they always provide an honest answer rather than simply telling us what we want to hear at the time. It's part of an angel's responsibility to consistently remind us of what we planned as our destiny, and also provide information about the timing in which we have the opportunity to fulfill it. To help ensure that you accomplish as much of your destiny as possible, simply ask your angels for a pragmatic weekly to-do list that can help speed and simplify the whole process!

Dear Kim:
My daughter is developmentally delayed due to some challenges she experienced at birth. Her vision was also affected. My question concerns her independence as an adult. Will she have good enough vision to drive? Will she be able to attend college and live independently one day away from her Dad and me? Are marriage and children in her future?
Patti C., 44,
Baytown, Texas
Dear Patti:
Your beautiful daughter is destined to live a healthy, independent life, but you must treat her exactly like your other child in regard to what you expect from her. If you treat her like she has disabilities, she will grow up to believe that she is challenged. She will be able to drive, although she will need corrective lenses...like so many of the rest of us.
You'd better start the college fund now, because she is very likely to attend Texas A&M University. She will have one marriage and several babies of her own—after she graduates from college—and her hubby is going to be a real pussycat. This child is going to have a truly blessed life. And she will consider you one of her greatest blessings!

Dear Kim:
It seems the more I learn about the metaphysical world, the more questions I have! At your seminar you said the secret to The Secret was that you could create anything you want unless it is not part of your destiny. I understand that to mean that if someone is trying to attract a large sum of money—but is not part of their destiny—they won't ever attract it? Or, if you are trying to attract perfect health, but it is in your destiny to have cancer then there is nothing you can do prevent/cure it? Also, I have heard you say that some people have a particular illness because of a past life situation. If this is true, it is kind of a letdown because I felt like I was able to create my life - but if destiny/past lives overrules this, then what's the point? Are there other factors at work here, or do all these theories work together? So are we really at the helm of our own ship or just subject to our destiny?
Jacqui P., 43,
Manassas, Virginia
Dear Jacqui:
That's one of the things I love most about the spiritual sciences—there is always so much more to learn! If an individual is investing energy into creating great wealth, but it is not a part of what they were destined to experience in this lifetime, then they will not be able to make it a reality. You are the captain of your own ship, and part of proper helmsmanship is to fully understand how you can make a difference on the earthly plane by utilizing your inherent gifts, talents, and abilities. Let me help you find the fast forward button: simply ask your angels about all of the dynamics about your particular destiny, and then ask about the times frames in which you can accomplish all of those things. If you proceed as your angels recommend, you will create lasting peace, joy, and contentment.
