Kim O'Neill - Word of the Week
Issue: # 2 August 2008
A monthly newsletter for people who are prevailing on their spiritual journey.  It's all about keeping the faith, maintaining courage, developing enlightenment, and creating a life you can love
through service to others.

Welcome to the second issue of Connecting You With Spirit!  Did you know that in addition to your guardian angels and departed loved ones, that you're actually sharing your home with a number of spiritual beings?  I call them "spiritual boarders."

For our August spiritual adventure, I'm going to reveal a very personal story about a townhouse that my husband and I rented that we quickly discovered was already inhabited by a number of spirits.  To our great dismay, we learned that the spirits were the souls of human beings who had all been murdered right on the spot where the townhouse was built...and they took an immediate interest in Flynn, our year-old baby son.

Unlike a carbon footprint, you are supposed to leave behind a spiritual footprint that represents how you helped make the earthly plane a more enlightened place than the way you found it!
The True Story of the Haunted Townhouse
Shadow Hands    "It's available immediately," eagerly said Mr. Marsdon, the owner of the townhouse.  "I'm willing to negotiate the rent.  And I'll wave the security deposit.  How soon do you want to move in?"

The spacious three bedroom brick townhouse had new carpeting, extensive crown molding in every room, custom shutters throughout, lots of windows, a full size washer and dryer, new kitchen appliances, covered parking, and it was only ten minutes from my new office.  Plus, it was located in the heart of a quiet, wooded community filled with multi-million dollar estates.

"We've been looking for something that would accommodate our growing family," I heard my husband, Britt, tell him, as the two men stood in the kitchen.  I continued to explore the unit with year-old Flynn on my hip.  I was hugely pregnant with our second child and we were in desperate need of a bigger home.  We had already been searching for months, but every rental unit we saw was either dismally rundown, or exorbitantly expensive.  As I walked from room to room visualizing where I would place our furniture, I was trying not to get too excited.

I heard Britt casually inquire, "How long did you say this unit has been
empty?" I had been married to him long enough to know that he was on a
fishing expedition.  I, too, couldn't imagine why the owner was motivated to negotiate in a real estate market so hot that even the poorly-maintained rentals were snapped up faster than items marked down 75% after Christmas.

"Well, I bought this place after it was first built," shared Marsdon,
scratching his head.  "I've always been able to attract nice tenants, but
everybody always moves out...usually after only a month or two."

    Britt remained silent.

"I own a number of rental properties," he continued.  "But for some
reason, this is my problem child."

"Why do you think that is?" asked my husband.

"I have no clue," Marsdon responded, earnestly shaking his head.  "As you can see, my wife and I have really fixed it up nice."

Mr. Marsdon certainly couldn't be faulted for his honesty.  I waddled back into the kitchen with Flynn, who was now starting to get cranky.  Britt searched my eyes, silently asking for psychic input.

Everything seemed fine to me.  The townhouse felt as if it had great energy. It was three times larger than the condo we were currently renting.  It had been freshly painted and felt new.  The neighborhood was quiet.  I was due to give birth in two months.  I had a whiny baby in my arms...and I was starving.  We hadn't seen anything remotely as nice for even twice the money.  I looked back at Britt as if to say, we'd better snap this up...now!

Our negotiations with Marsdon went without a hitch, and we were relieved and excited to take possession of the sumptuous townhouse the following weekend.  It was after eight that night when the movers finally finished, and we were able to reassemble the baby's crib.  Once Flynn was asleep, I sent Britt to the store.  I made our bed, undressed, and then realized that I had no idea which wardrobe box held my robe and pajamas.  Too exhausted to care, I threw myself on top of the bed.  I closed my eyes.  It was so blissfully quiet that I could hear the wind rustling through the large pine trees that surrounded the property.  I thought that I heard doves cooing. I felt truly fortunate that we had found such a beautiful place.

All at once, I heard the unmistakable sound of heavy footfalls at the bottom of the stairs.  It wasn't Britt!  Somebody had broken in!

Dressed only in my panties and white crew socks, I flew off the bed and waddled toward the nursery like a naked madwoman.  Being so pregnant, it was difficult for me to maneuver swiftly.  With one hand supporting my ponderous breasts and the other propping up my huge belly, I fled toward Flynn's room.

The staircase that separated me from the nursery loomed ominously to my left.  I could hear the footsteps almost at the top.  I knew the intruder could easily grab me as I tried to clumsily dart past, but I had no other option.  What if the intruder had broken in to kidnap my baby?  In full flight, I decided that if the assailant tried to take Flynn from me, I would turn into the Terminator.

At that very moment, the footfalls abruptly stopped.  The resulting silence was even more dreadful and startling.  I fully expected a knife-wielding intruder to jump out of the shadows.

As I peered around the corner, my heart was pounding and my breathing was labored from panic and exertion.  To my utter astonishment, the steep, dark staircase was completely empty. I padded to Flynn's room and found him sleeping peacefully.  With the exception of his soft snoring, the townhouse was completely silent again.  It was deathly quiet.

My heart was still beating furiously as I cautiously tiptoed back to the stairway. There was no one there. I stood staring down at the first floor landing for a few moments before returning to the master bedroom. The house remained silent. I hoisted my body back onto the bed and took a deep breath. Moving day was hard enough. but now this?  I'll figure it out tomorrow. Maybe it's my imagination. Britt will be home soon. I'm so tired...

Just as I was closing my eyes, the loud, heavy footfalls started again at the bottom of the stairs.  I was instantly alert, jump-started by a flood of adrenalin. The CLUMP...CLUMP...CLUMP continued slowly and steadily toward the second story.  There was no time to make a phone call for help, I had nothing to use as a weapon, and I certainly couldn't hide-I had a baby to protect!  I lowered my swollen feet to the floor and hurried back toward the nursery.  I kept praying, please, God, don't let anything happen to Flynn...and don't let me be killed.  Please let me live to raise my babies!

I quickly decided that if there was going to be a confrontation, I wanted to get it over with.  My heart was beating so wildly that I was sure I was going to have a heart attack.  The footfalls reached the top of the stairs just as I looked around the corner.  There was no one there!  I was stunned to find the staircase empty.

My pregnancy had created a nonstop kaleidoscope of churning emotions, and my immediate relief was eclipsed by an indignant rage that washed over me with a startling suddenness.  Bristling with anger, I stood at the top of the stairs squinting steely-eyed toward the first floor.  Was this someone's idea of a sick joke?

I looked down at the carpeted staircase.  I was suddenly baffled.  The
incredibly loud, heavy CLUMP...CLUMP...CLUMP noise sounded like
footsteps mounting bare wooden stairs.  Then the not-so-obvious dawned on me.  The frightening sounds had been made by a very noisy, tangible spirit!  No wonder Mr. Marsdon couldn't keep the townhouse occupied!  As a professional channel, I didn't feel threatened by spirits; as long as there was no threat to my family from a human intruder, I felt safe and secure.  I had to wryly acknowledge the irony of the situation.  It appeared that our hapless landlord had finally found the right tenants.

Several days passed without incident as we unpacked boxes and tried to organize our new home.  There were no more heavy footfalls on the stairs, so Britt and I began to assume that it had been a onetime supernatural occurrence.  We were soon to discover that our assumption had been very wrong.

Early one Friday morning a week later, I was in my typical rush getting
dressed for work.  I swung open the closet door in the master bedroom and I was stunned by what I saw.  The inside of my closet had been transformed into a scene right out of the American Old West.

I saw a man hanging by his neck from a piece of rope that was attached to crudely-built wooden gallows.  The man was quite dead, and his body grotesquely swung and twisted, giving the impression that the gruesome execution had just taken place.  His matted hair and scruffy beard made it impossible to guess his age.

I slammed the door shut.  I knew it had been a psychic vision--but of what? And of whom?  I waited for a few seconds before re-opening the door.  The gallows and the dead man had disappeared.  The only things that remained were the familiar jumble of clothes and shoes still waiting to be organized from the move.  I couldn't help but imagine the reaction that previous tenants must have had if they, too, had witnessed the same macabre spectacle in the large, walk-in closet!

Throughout my workday, I was, of course, distracted by thoughts of the townhouse.  What kind of place had we moved into?  Late that evening, after we put Flynn to bed, I made some coffee, and Britt and I sat down at our kitchen table.  I needed to channel about what had happened, and I also wanted to ask my guardian angel John about what we could expect from our resident spirits in the future.  Britt could not hear him, so I repeated the angelic conversation as it transpired.

And what my angel proceeded to tell us was unbelievable...and led me to a tangible interaction with the murder victims themselves.

Synchronicity
The Job Hunt
I worked for a large Independent Physician Organization for over a year and during that time I became very stressed out and increasingly negative. I had been looking for a new job almost since the day I started, but for some reason none of the interviews panned out. Finally, in August, I had put up with all that I could and decided to resign. I felt somewhat better but, now was worried about my financial situation.

I constantly questioned whether or not I had done the right thing and within several weeks fell into a deeper funk. One Sunday my husband and I went to our favorite bookstore to get a newspaper. We decided to look around for a book or two. I figured since I had nothing but time on my hands I could at least read. I picked up "The Power of Flow" and before opening it I told myself, "If anything on the first page of this books relates to me, I have to buy it".

In the first sentence "Austin, Texas" is mentioned, which is where I live. So, I bought the book. I started reading a little each day and by the following Thursday I was feeling much more positive. While reading in the tub one day and saying my new affirmations, I received two calls for interviews. Both for jobs that I was really interested in.

I interviewed for both positions and felt extremely good. Within the next week I was offered a job, which I turned down. It wasn't one that came to me in the flow. The following week I was offered both of the positions I wanted and actually got to make a choice. Everything flowed right into it for me. I

I have no doubts or fears that I made the right choice.Had it not been for this book I would have taken the first job I was offered and been just a miserable as before. I have since purchased this book as a birthday gift for one of my dearest friends who has also been feeling pretty lost lately. We talk on the phone everyday about the synchronicities in our lives. We are in the process of trying to get several other friends to start reading it, so that we can get into the flow together.

Channeled Question of the Month
Dear Kim: My daughter is not able to focus on what she wants to do.  She has just graduated.  Could you tell me how I could direct her on the right path?  Please help me!

Priscilla Z., 52, Bothell, WA

Dear Priscilla:  Your daughter is multi-talented, has varied interests, is extremely bright, and has the capacity to focus on a number of things all at one time...and that's why she seems a little scattered!  However, she isn't scattered at all--she is still searching for that one life's work that would hold her interest long term.

It is imperative that your daughter attend college; Washington State University would be a good choice.  Her life's work is marine biology, caring for dolphins, sharks, whales, sea turtles, etc., which would allow her to live by the sea.  She would be very happy working for a large aquarium, like the new one in Spain, which is the largest in the world.  Ask your daughter to consider looking into marine biology; each day would offer a different challenge, she could live by water, and she'd work with animals that hold special appeal to her.  Email and let me know how she's doing!
Profiles in Success
I met my Mr. Wonderful in the beginning of this year, exactly like Kim told me. He also matched exactly the way she described him: genuine, loving, caring, nurturing, happy, extremely funny, very creative and very spiritual. She also predicted that everybody in my family would love him, especially my children.

I had been recently divorced with two young boys, so this was very important to me. Kim had told me to go to a certain dating service at the end of last year and enroll.  She explicitly mentioned to use their website and not any other service.  Well, I thought, I would be really smart and enroll way before she told me to, to increase my chances. Nothing happened for 10 months. I communicated with very nice people, but there was no real chemistry.

Then, January came around and, as predicted, a wonderful man with the name of Jack contacted me. That Sunday, I had received several emails, all around the same time, from interested potential partners, but his stood out.  It felt like there was a halo around his name in my e-mail inbox. His name literally stood out.  I know it sounds weird, but I felt compelled to open only his email.

In just one day, Jack and I went through the entire getting-to-know-you-process that the dating service requires, before they allow open communication. I hadn't done that with anybody before, but in this case, I felt like something kept pulling me back to the computer to see if Jack has written and to answer his emails. Later, it turned out that that day was Jack's last day with the dating service and that his membership was about to expire. It was our only chance to meet.

From the first day, Jack and I communicated with each other every day, for the first several weeks via email, then, we added phone calls. Our first phone conversation was three hours long. We didn't feel like hanging up, we got along so well.  It has been magical ever since.  It feels like we have known each other for ages, so familiar, so wonderful.  We confessed our love to each other long before we met in person. We understand each other beyond words. We think and say things at the same time; we are on the same page. He is the most loving and caring man I've ever met in my entire life. I never knew love could feel so good, so unconditional, so infinite, so safe.  When I am with him, I feel like I am experiencing a glimpse of heaven. It is like I finally found home.

Every day, I thank God, the Universe, and my angels, for bringing this man into my life. I feel so very blessed that I finally met the love of my life and that I know now what love really truly is.

Past Lives, Present Issues

by Ginger Pennell
I leaned in closer so I wouldn't miss any of her soft-spoken words. As I did, I noticed her 42 year-old face actually changing right before my eyes. Her forehead had smoothed out and she had a new, youthful glow to her countenance. She spoke in a soft, timid six year-old's whisper, "I'm here with my mommy. She's weeping. Everything is dark and it's so lonely. I don't know where my daddy has gone, or my brothers and sisters. It's just me and mommy. She's so sad. I wish I could help her, but I'm too young. I just hold her while she cries."

My heart wrenched in sympathy as my client described her life as Sarah in the 1800's. But it made perfect sense. She'd come to my office for a past life regression to find out why she experiences fear and abandonment issues in her current lifetime relationships. We visited several past lives during her session and found she'd been left alone to fend for herself again and again.

When my client came out of hypnosis, she was filled with wonder...and relief. Now she could understand from a higher perspective why she'd been so fearful of getting close to anyone in this lifetime. With this new information, she left my office filled with self-confidence, knowing that her future relationships would be richer and more meaningful.

My husband Chris and I are both Advanced Certified Clinical Hypnotists and Past Life Regression Specialists. We've been extremely lucky to be living out our dream of working in the field of holistic healing for over seven years now and we've helped hundreds of people experience past life regression. I can honestly say that it only becomes more and more exciting as time goes along. The experience of guiding someone through a past life regression is a new adventure each and every time.

People often ask us to explain what a past life regression is like.  We'll explain how the session can offer an easy way to view past life events. and insight may be gained on why we behave the way we do today. By examining our past lives, we can receive guidance, answers and sometimes, even assurance. And believe it or not, we can actually bring back talents, gifts and skills from other lifetimes!

Past life regression is different for everyone and each time a client comes in, each session will be different. Initially, some people come in just to find out what the experience might be like, while others come in with more specific agendas. We have found that typically it's a client's Angels and Guides who decide which past lives are pertinent for the client to view and experience during their session that day.

Chris and I will carefully guide our clients every step of the way through the session and it's not unusual for us to spend two hours or more with someone new to past life regression. Before the session, we'll talk to the client about the things, people and events in their current lives so we can find common threads to past lives. Then we'll begin the session itself. It's a little different than traditional hypnosis, as the client is in a lighter trance state so they can relay what they see, feel or hear. Sessions are interactive and the client will share out loud the events they are re-experiencing.

During the actual session, the amount of information each client receives will vary because everyone experiences and processes information in their own way. Some people are highly visual. For others, it is more natural to remember events through their feelings or to hear sounds and conversations, or to taste/smell or simply to "know" with an intuitive sense.  The good news is there's no right or wrong way to experience past lives. Even a snippet of a scene for a client can prove as rich in meaning as a complex memory filled with detail. How you receive your past life information will be exactly right for you

When the session is over, we'll talk about the events the client has just experienced. Some people can remember every detail of their session and for others it's a little foggy. That's why we record each session to cassette tape so the client can go home and listen to the session again.  Interestingly enough, some people will find that when they go home and try again, they are able to get back into that very calm and meditative state where they can help themselves go back to visit those past lives they experienced in their sessions, gaining even more information and insight each time. Others will find that more information and understanding continues to come to them through visions, dreams or memories.

A recent client, who came in for a past life regression all the way from Africa, was a very intuitive man who was able to achieve a very relaxed and comfortable hypnotic state almost immediately. As he journeyed through lifetimes and between lives, some extraordinary information began to come to light.

The client was in between lives when he began describing his mother in this current lifetime. He could see her before he was born, he knew why he chose her as his mother, and he even went through the birth experience into his current life. He relayed that he was born premature and the hospital he was born in had no incubators. The client described a make-shift machine the doctors and nurses created to put him in when he was born. The machine had heat lamps and bags of water to create humidity to help his newborn lungs breathe easier.

As he described being placed in the homemade incubator, he suddenly heard a loud noise and then his mother began screaming. One of the bags of water near the machine had touched a heat lamp, creating a small explosion that inadvertently damaged his arm, burning through skin, muscle and tissue. When he came out of hypnosis, the amazed client showed the scar near his wrist. Now he knew the circumstances for what had been an unexplained scar on his wrist his entire life.

Last year we had a group of family members come in for separate past life regressions. They were curious to find out about issues in their current lives and wanted to understand their family dynamics in a better way. In the sessions, it came to light that they had all lived several lifetimes with each other over and over, as related family. Without knowing it, they all described similar interactions, even validating the same geographic locations, personal experiences and conversations with each other.

If you're looking for a way to understand why you are experiencing certain things in this lifetime, past life regression can certainly be an unexpected and amazing adventure! And, what could be a more fun or easier way to gain insight and knowledge about your current life?

Blonde Moment
A police officer pulls over a speeding car.  The officer says, I clocked you at 80 miles per hour, sir."

The driver says, "Gee, officer, I had it on cruise control at 60, perhaps your radar gun needs calibrating?"

His blonde wife contradicts him by chastising, "Now don't be silly dear, you know that this car doesn't have cruise control."

As the officer writes out the ticket, the driver looks at his wife and growls, "Can't you please keep your mouth shut for once?"

The wife smiles demurely and says, "You should be thankful your radar detector went off when it did."

As the officer makes out the second ticket for the illegal radar detector unit, the man glowers at his wife and says through clenched teeth, "Damn it, woman, can't you keep your mouth shut?"

The officer frowns and says, "And I notice that you're not wearing your seat belt, sir.  That's an automatic $75 fine."

The driver replies, "Yeah, well, you see officer, I had it on, but I took it off when you pulled me over so that I could get my license out of my back pocket."

The wife says, "Now dear, you know very well that you didn't have your seat belt on.  You never wear your seat belt when you're driving."

As the police officer writes the third ticket, the driver turns to his wife and barks, "WHY DON'T YOU PLEASE SHUT UP?"

The officer looks over at the woman and asks, "Does your husband always talk to you that way, ma'am?"

    "Only when he's been drinking."
Thank you for allowing me to spend this time with you!  Please write to me with your own success and synchronicity stories...I'd love to include them in a future issue.  Until next month, wishing you all the best blessings!

Tip of the Month
On the earthly plane, the test comes before the lesson.  You cannot have confidence about something you haven't done yet.  Therefore, when you are facing a new challenge, be assured that the confidence required for you to know you can achieve it will come only after the thing is done!

Throughout your life you will be facing new and different challenges...for which you will have no initial confidence.  Have faith that you can prevail over anything you draw to you from which you are to learn.
